The HIghlanders

"The HIghlanders"
Oil on canvas 36" X 36"

This is another commissioned work which is bound to go to Canada. It is one of the hardest pieces I've done so far for the simple reason that I could not decide the colors to use, I had to change colors as I went along. Since it was the owner who suggested the theme and color scheme, my main problem was how to make a scene of mountain people who are accustomed to living in a cold emvironment look good on a warm tone, ie., red. That was my patron's request, red! Very limiting and yet very challenging. I decided to go analogous on this one using tones related to redm and yes, a little blue hre and there. There's the finished product. Hope she likes it. Hope you like it, too.:-)

Beautiful ... The woman appears to dance out of nowhere when the man began to play.

Very beautiful, Rolly.

Given the constraints you had to work with, it still came out fine. Congratulations!

omg, as soon as I saw it, I had a feeling it was going to Canada :)

It's awesome, Rolly. I like the red tones I think it is more of a reflection on the people than the climate.

Mari Hirap akong makaipon ng painting pang exhibit Mari. Mukhang mag reretire muna ko ng trabaho before i can do that.

FN Nice take on the painting!

Cathyand Panaderos Thanks

JMom Yes, the warmth of the people instead of the climate. Good!

Yehey! I know who this is going to. Ang swerte naman! Beautiful, beautiful. I am not an art expert but, considering the theme, I think you couldn't have chosen a better color scheme because those are exactly the colors I'd think of when I think about the highlands. :) Vibrant, throbbing, lively (and lovely) colors ... parang mga sayaw din nila doon which, among the ethnic dances, I love best.

So if I commission a work from you, Tito Rolly, alam ko na kung ano ang color scheme. Green! Siguro alam mo na rin kung ano ang theme at bakit green ang color scheme. :)

That day will come. I just have to save a little more.

ang galing sir. probably one of the best you've done during the past three years. i love this piece.

siguro, mas maganda pa nga kung di mo pinaplano ang color schemes before hand.

inggit ako... if i could only afford you, kaso dami naming expenses ngayon, eh... but soon, i hope. baka pag nagtagal, di na kita ma-reach talaga!

hm, if not an exhibit, how about an auction, tito rolly? kahit paisa-isa lang?

Ang ganda! Can you give me an idea on how much your painting is going for? Mag-iipon ako para sa isang painting. I'd like to have one hanging on the wall someday.
May I add you to my links?

Hi Rolly, long time. :) Your painting is simply breathtaking! tugma ang red na color scheme as requested.

Is it just me seeing the "dutch boy" at the upper right quadrant of the painting? Dutch boy cut kasi ang hair nito. What's weird is that it was the first thing I saw. :)

rolly said...

gilbert One thing for sure is there is indeed a man at that quadrant. How are you these days?
