Gotta jam with the Rolling Stones tomorrow

I shall not report for work tomorrow. I am scheduled for a lithotripsy procedure tomorrow. For those who are not in the know, this is a painless, bloodless procedure for stone removal. A very welcome change in stone removal as I don't have to undergo an operation anymore. This is going to be my third time. It seems like I am a stone former. For a diabetic, that does not sound well. I don't know what's causing these stones to form. I don't even know what their composition is. I suspect salt as I am fond of salty food.

I should have had this procedure last Friday. I even thought the no class day was a blessing because then I wouldn't have to be absent from work anymore. And that means less trouble for me because I don't have to think about my children going to school and back. The problem was it turned out that the stone unit of the Medical Doctors is also closed!

LAstly, the real bummer is that I have to go on fasting again and drink that awful castor oil! I wonder if you've tried that before. Well, if you haven't, how about imagining drinking three tablespoons of your mother's sewing machine oil. Just a whip is sufficient to make you puke, right?

oh well, I have to do what has to be done rather than wait for this stone to act up and send me writhing in pain to the hospital again.

titorolly,
dapat talaga alisin na ang bato. Baka lumaki pa yan, may alagain ka pang batong panghilod.
Seriously, take care.

thanks.

Hope the procedure goes smoothly. This may sound crazy but I know a girl who gets the same stones forming over and over. They blamed it on calcium deposits, and the only thing they could think of to break it down was sun. So her specialist's recommendation was for her to tan. She goes to a tanning booth every week.

I may have to check up on the above. It doesn't sound quite right...

Bayi So true, my friend. I had been hospitalized twice for my kidney stones and believe me it hurts! And the things they do to you. I've lost my dignity once, I don't think I'd like to have it done to me again.

I don't know if I get to lose some pounds with lithotripsy, though. :-)

TinTin Actually, I am not really sure what kind of stone I am forming. It's most likely to be salt but who knows really? I was told to collect samples after the procedure so I would know the chemical get up of the stones but it seems they're too small when I take them out coz nothing shows up in my pee. Thanks.

Maybe the sun does help with calcium stones. That's a fun way to lose stones. Another sure thing is to drink lots of water. Sheesh, had the doctor said alcohol, it would have been just as nice as the tanning of your friend, wouldn't it? hahaha Thanks.

so how's the big boy now? stone-free na? hehehehehe i read (a month ago) that lithotripsy uses shock waves to pulverize kidney stones non-invasively. I hope the procedure is really less distressing.. and your(sensual) powers remain intact, ready to soak up the next chapter of my "story" hehehehehehe

i hope the stone has been successfully removed by now... and that you're mending well...

tito rolly - i hope youre well now. take care of your health. :)

rolly said...

BongK Yes, you heard correctly. Wala namang effect sa sensations ko. eto nga lang, medyo groggy pa ko but that's it. Sinamahan akong umuwi ng panganay ko.

Mec and Mari Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, I think I'm okay now. See you at Mega Mall on Dec 30.

is that different from laser treatment?

rolly said...

ruth hello. Yes, lithotripsy is different from laser. The principle behind this is it sort of pulverize the stone through shock wave hence its name Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy or ESWL. Buti na lang may ganito, otherwise, I would have been operated on...

Just been to your site and was about to leave a comment , kaya lang mukhang may private joke yung entry, mahirap makialam, hehe.

Last time we talked, I gathered na maliliit naman mga bato mo, so no need to worry. By this time, I expect they have been obliterated to powder form.

It is true na stone-former ka. Third-time na nga, sabi mo di ba? Hehehe.

You can do something to prevent a 4th or 5th ESWL date with your doctor: STRICTLY MONITOR WHAT YOU EAT. Tama ka, bawal ang maalat. I am sure you possess the discipline naman because like idol BatJay, you were able to quit smoking.

I'm sure your doctor has already provided you with a list of food items to avoid. However, should you need one, just email me.

Get well and REMAIN well, Tito Rolly. =)

Mari Thanks. I try to kaya lang, talagang ang mga sakit ko, sakit ng matigas ulo e.

jillsabs yucky talaga no?

Oo nga, malapit na Father and Son.

I have to remember to drink a lot of liquid though. hindi kasi ko palainom ng tubig e.

Tanggero Hopefully wala namang complications. As I said, this is the third time i underwent the procedure. Medyo sanay na. Merry Christmas to you and your family, too.

Tito Rolly, good thing I read your entry and I know now that there's a non invasive form of treating stones.
I hope you're ok now!

rolly said...

Mik Oh yes... Just the preparations alone is already invasive, I'm sure.

Anonymous said...

Sayang nga di ako makakapunta :( Di bale, am sure you guys will have a really great time! Baka next time magka EB ulit ang pinoyblogs nasa Manila na ako ulit :)

good thing it was caught in time and not lodged anywhere that procedure will not be able to handle. Just had my gall bladder removed about 3 months ago and any other procedure was not an option but to cut me open and take it out. Ugh! It is your 3rd time tito rolly? does it comeback because of the salt intake? I wastold I might get it back too...hope not and if I do, not end up undr the knife again. Also, it is a good excuse not to work :P

rolly said...

Cerridwen You're gall stones are probably big already when discovered that's why you had to go under the knife. Yes, this is my third time. The stones do come back because of my eating habits (to bad, I know) and I still don't know the composition of the stones as I cannot get any fragment even if I pee on a strainer. But I'm sure it's salt... Hope you're a good girl when it comes to your diet. You don't want to go under the knife again, do you?

HI tito Rolly,

nakikitito khit anonymous to you.. i just want to ask how much po kay ung lithotripsy procedure. my mom has it and just want to inquire. tnx

rolly said...
