Art Projects

As I have done in the past, I am posting several works of my students done during the third and final term of the schoolyear. These artworks have been done in my class by freshmen and sophomore students.

The first photo is a sample of my sophomore students. The first one being a lesson on what I call dramatic lettering where the student should create a kind of lettering that will show the meaning of the word.

The next one delves with art history. During the spanish era, a painter named Honorato Lozano who became popular for his paintings of everyday life done with the client's name. This genre was known as Letras y Figuras. I asked my students to experiment on the form and these are some of the results.

But before the Letras Y Figuras, I asked them to choose a movie or tv show and re create the lettering used in its presentation. Here is one of the more interesting ones.

For the Freshmen who takes up painting, I introduced color harmony and here are some samples:

Analogous

Complementary

And lastly, our biggest project for the year, our toast to the masters. Here, they get to reproduce a work of a master. Not only do they learn about a particular master's style, they get to learn the effects of texture as well as I asked them to substitute different found objects in lieu of paint.

Mahusay yung mime. Simple yet effective. The complementary colors study are also awesome. Looking back, we had art classes in grade school and I enjoyed them tremendously. Drawing in Engineering was just too strict and I did not enjoy it.

@the toast to the masters photos:
first work reminds moe of the Fauves... yung third work obviously abstract, but i can't put my finger on which particular abstract art style it is... Kandisnky maybe?

watson Prior to these projects, we also do some mechanical drawing. That is a little challenging for them. Nakukuha din naman nila

like cbs, I also like the "MIME". Lalo na pag tiningnan sa malayo. Siguro kung bata-bata pa ako, I might be one of your students, Ka Rolly. I don't know if I'm to old to learn anything new.

Blogusvox I don't think anybody is old enough besides, you don't need any lessons. MAhusay ka na sa cartoons based on your posts in your blog. I'm sure, if you put your heart into it, kayang-kaya mong mag create ng kahit ano.

I guess MIME's appeal is its simplicity and subtlety. I like it too and I also like the last three paintings shown.

Rolly, I am suffering from a foot that drags when I walk. Daily I practice lifting it up so I can walk more normally. At 38, I have met many people who assure me my mind, my brain, and my body can all learn to do things differently.

Whatever made walking so easy two years ago no longer exists, but I am sure my body can relearn it again.

ok yung project tungkol sa letras y figuras bossing. yan, talagang nakaka stimulate ng creative thinking.

i remember, may feature si ambeth ocampo na painting ng bahay in the style of letras y figuras sa rizal without the overcoat. he says, the house was the one which rizal used as a model for the opening scene of noli me tangera.

Sorry for the delay in my response. But as my friend Ate Sienna says, "Better late than pregnant." So, here goes:

panaderos Yes, less is more!

Keith I know you could. With determination and self-control, you can do anything. Thanks on the thumbs-up on the artworks.

ipanema That was what my professor in college called this project. I adapted it.

everlito Ang galing mo na. Hindi mo na kailangan ng turo

bing Yes, aren't they?

jobette Children usually have a creative mind. That is when it becomes frustrating for me.

I enjoyed my grade school art classes but my products are nowhere near as fab as your students.

"mime" stopped me in my scrolling and those masters' repro, they're worth framing.

rolly said...

auee Does this mean you're back in England?

Yeah, most of the projects have been framed before. I intend to frame these, too.

Ang galing! Your students are so gifted. They must be inspired by such a great teacher. ;)

yes, balik England-football-lamig-at-hayfever na ko

rolly said...

Auee Pag balik mo ulit dito magkita tayo ha.
