just sharing 2

These are two of my works. One done in 1999, the other in 2000. I painted these with a crayon resist technique using what else? crayon and watercolor. I am attaching a poem that goes with the first one. The waterfall, on the other hand, has a very inspiring story beneath it which I am not ready to reveal yet. Both these paintings are now owned by my good friend and soul mate, Arlene Lawson, an American poet who lives in Richmond, BC, Canada. She used to own the Country Garden Mouse until she handed it over to her daughter, Trudy. She was gracious enough to send me pictures of my works so that I can share them with you. I'll try to post other styles I paint in next time. Hope you like these, too.

the wall Posted by Hello

The Wall

formidable-
laden with heavy artillery
shows its might

snobbishly
repels unwanted
guests

mute witness
to many crimes,
crevices draped

with dried blood
of gallat men
in war

in peace
hides lovers
at nooks none can see

scribbling their
names inside
a broken heart

baked under the sun
stitched with a bow
of a naked boy

on its floors
rubbers of every
sizes, different kinds

to me
it is a
cultural parapet
separating you
from me
i strike this barren wall

with hammer
of peace, understanding
and love

Tito Rolly, sabi na kasing ilabas mo na yung catalogue mo eh..what a revelation talaga! I can see the soft side in you. Yung choices mo of colors, the preference of a subject and the choice of poem that went with the first artwork..ano pang talent mo? sige na..

ting-aling said...

Oops, puwede mo ba akong maging friend expressed in artwork too?

now that is a perfect example na AB people are successful too. maybe not in terms of money but in terms of talent and acclaim. :)

i especially like the second one. i don't know.
people would say i'm sunny and mas bagay sa first yellow and orange one pero there's something very serene dun sa blue.

keep those paintings coming tito rolly!

Thanks!

Question: Just been to your site and saw your pix. Pareho lang tayong Hello gamit ba't mukhang mas discreet yung advertisement sa yo? Sa akin, nagmumura yung logo e.

Tito Rolly, if ever you stopped teaching (heaven-forbid!), I think you and your family won't get hungry. These paintings of yours are worth a fortune. That's not all. If teaching and painting fail you, there's always poetry and music to fall back too. Isn't that great? I'm proud to have known you as a friend. =) Mabuhay ka ulit!

Tito Rolly,
You're really an artist, a great artist.

Sassy Lawyer said...

Ang gaganda! Sana artistic din ako, haaaayyyy.... Nakaka-enganyo.

rolly said...

Doc Emer thanks for your kind words. I thought i needed a more stable job. Oh well, kanya kanya lang raket yan. And I'm glad I have you as a friend, too. You don't know how valuable your words of wisdom are.

Cathy kayang-kaya mo yan. I know you have the interest and the creativity. Just work on your own style and something will come out of it.

A8 musta ka na! welcome to my blog and thanks for your encouraging words.

rolly said...

Julsitos thanks. Solo exhibit? Hindi ko pa kaya. Unang-una, ang hirap mag-ipon ng painting. Tapos maghanap ng gallery. And these are the easiest, actually. Pinakamahirap yung financial aspect. My paintings should be mounted on frames to look more beautiful and napamahal ng frame. I need at least twenty pieces to come up with a show. You can just imagine kung walang mabili sa painting ko, that's food for the family :-(

Well, at least mga intro at first verses hehe

Sassy kayang-kaya mo yang mga yan. There's a certain pattern. Thanks a lot.

Nga pala, my friend Omi Reyes is having his one man show at Glorietta come Sept 10. Punta kayo at saksakan ng galing yung kaibigan kong yun. I may show you some of his works, too. Awesome! kita-kita tayo dun if you have the time.

rolly said...

Jardine that may be a good idea! Let's see if we ahve any takers...:-)]

joffin Thanks for the compliment. That's nice to hear.

Bong hindi ako magaling. Ang daming artists na magagaling. If you look at my profile, it says I am a Jack of all trades, master of none. Ang dami kong interes kasi. No, hindi ako marunong magbadminton. I just started playing the game this summer.

How's college life? San ka nag-aaral na? Well, whereever you are, I know you're going to excel because you always had been a very good student. Aral lang ng maigi. Yes, I worked on that painting during breaks. Kaya tumagal ang pag-gawa niyan e. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment.

Bayi thanks for the encouragement.

Rika so, what are you taking up in UP? Sabay nyo yatang na-discover ni Erin ang blog ko a. hehe Keep on painting pa rin, ha. It's a nice way of expressing yourself.

ajay said...

maganda pa rin, tito. you're a real artist. but the one in your previous post really took my breath away. correction: let's have a painting and poetry exhibit. bloggers unite!;)

rolly said...

Ajay Why not? Or even a poetry reading, huh? Thanks a lot.

pero seriously, it's great that you've posted your work. it's not that easy as other people think it is. when you show stuff like poems, songs, paintings and other similar work, you are, in effect, baring your soul. it is quite scary and i am glad that you did post it. ano ba ang feeling ng makita mo ang painting mong naka paskil sa isang exhibit? ayos siguro ano.

personally, nakakatakot. iniisip ko pa lang, ninirbyos na ako. which is why my horse painting will remain posted in our home toilet in our little house in antipolo. i'll show it to you pag nasa bahay ka namin at bigla kang naihi.

Hi Tito Rolly! Ang galing galing naman! Pwede pala tayong mag-partnership. Hehe. That could be called a "haiga." =) Pero maybe someday when life is not too busy.

I love the artworks and the poem. =)

Ingat po and regards!

whoops alberto gomez pala yung name ng dad ng kaibigan ko. would you remember him by any chance?

rolly said...

I think you've found your voice in poetry already. Sige, gawa tayo ng haiga. I hope i can do justice your work, though.

TinTin kayang-kaya mo yan. Practice lang. Had you been here, I could've helped you find your muse in painting. :-)

Stani yes, I know him. Actually, he's the ninong of my youngest child. :-)

Gosh, Sir. Your works are amazing.

I read your other blog about blogging and leaving a legacy behind through words... I went to New York recently to study Creative Writing. After that, I started seeing works of writing differently. I paid more attention to coherence and detail. The writers I really liked, I find shallow now; the ones I thought were too deep are appreciated. Your writing is seamless, tight, and it does its purpose: communication. And it communicates well.

My dad also wrote a book... He published it idependently, because no one would publish it. He says it's "his legacy" to the Philippines, even when he's long gone. I remembered it when I read your blog.

Just wanted to let you know :)
